THEATRICAL SKILLS WORKSHOPS

The Theatrical Skills Workshops of Chicago Spotlight, Inc. is a continuation of our mission to educate theatre students, teachers and staff regarding the most current technology and techniques available for theatre programs and how to maintain safe theatre environments.

This season we are offering not only our normal Theatrical Skills Workshops, but we are also offering our new "Train the Trainer" series of workshops that are designed for those who teach others.

Lighting Design

February 11, 2012

Presenter: Mac Vaughey, Lighting Designer

Designing a Basic Light Plot

Common Lighting Fixtures to use

Enhancing the plot with accessories

 


Theatrical Make-Up

ION Lighting Console Operation

(workshops will run concurrently - sign up for one or the other)

Performing Arts Center at Benito Juarez Community Academy, Chicago, IL

Cost: $25.00 for either, Additional $15.00 for required make-up kit

Presenters: Katie Cordts, Roosevelt University; Ellen White, Training Specialist, Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC)

 

Topics Include:

Theatrical Makeup -

Basic Makeup Application

Lighting and Makeup

 

Ion Console Operation/Programming -

Review Console Navigation and Patch

Work with Cues, Groups and Palette

Play with conventional and moving lights

 


Scene Painting

(co-sponsored with USITT Midwest Section)

April 21 & 22, 2012

8:00am - 6:00pm (approx)

Cost: $75.00

Presenter: Jen Knott, Scenic Artist/Paint Product Manager, Rosco Laboratories

 

Topics Include:

2-Day Intensive Workshop for Intermediate to Advanced Scenic Painters

Complete a Project as you learn new Tips and Tricks and improve on existing skills

This season we are offering our new "Train the Trainer" (TT) series of workshops. These workshops are designed to give the tools to those who teach others a way to pass along what they learn in the workshop.

 

Space for these workshops is extremely limited.


TT Theatrical Make-Up

There is one remaining workshop

Cost: $30.00 per session

It will be at Chicago Spotlight, Inc, Chicago, IL

It will be from 9:00am - 12:00noon

A Ben Nye Full Size Creme Make-Up kit is required for these workshops - you may bring your own or purchase one at a discount at the event.

  • To ensure the effectiveness of "hands on" participation, each workshop will limit the number of participants.

We are always looking for new venues for the Theatrical Skills Workshops.

If your school or theatre is interested in hosting, contact Steve Jacobs for additional information.

Host schools/theatres receive a discount for their students/staff.

 


 

Workshops at Chicago Spotlight, Inc. will take place at their showroom and shop located at 1658 W. Carroll Ave., Chicago, a few blocks from either I-290 or I-94.

 

Chicago Spotlight, Inc. reserves the right to re-locate a workshop or change presenters due to scheduling conflicts. If this should occur, and you can no longer attend due to location, your registration will be refunded.
